OMG...my blog is 5 years old???

Yes...my blog is officially 5 years old!

This was my first post ever! [here]

It has stood the test of time, witnessed my growing up as a kid in college till today, my life as a working adult.

It has seen the changes that happened to me, from me shoulder-length straightened hair, to brown curls, to untamed hair, to short hair, and now back to straightened hair.

It has seen me through my previous love relationships.

It has been my source of ramblings, from me getting angry, sad and through my happiness.

It has changed with me from the first day i started blogging
from love, life and happiness
to peas on the run
to peas in scotland
to wene-ism.

Thank You for being with me my dear not-so-private bloggie :)

xoxo

Miss Selangor?? Me? Maybe....NOT :P

Hi all!!

I'm Wen Yi, born in KL in 1986 but raised in Klang, Selangor since I was 5!!

Right now, TourismSelangor is offering a FANTASTIC contest [official website] whereby 30 lucky finalists could get the chance to go on an all expenses paid trip to DISCOVER SELANGOR!! *woots* And here I am trying my very best to be Miss Selangor I mean the TOP 30 Finalists! LOL :P

Before start blabbing about why I should be picked, I think it is only fair if you know a little more about me :)

============================================

I was a happy child in pre-school, whereby I performed in both my two years in kindergarten.

But somehow my graduation picture when I was 6 came out like this. LOL. Read more about my birth and pre-school here :)

Ever since I was a kid, my parents have brought me traveling around Malaysia. In fact I have been to every state in Malaysia except for Kelantan, and I have even been to Thailand when I was only 4! That's probably why I have a love for traveling :) [some of short travel stories can be found here and here.]

Fast forward, you get some ugly pictures of myself in primary school [here] and secondary school. LOL.

After SPM, I was off for National Service in Terengganu.

After SPM, I was lucky enough to given a scholarship by JPA, and my path was paved for me all the way till recently, I graduated with a degree in Pharmacy.

==============================================

*phew*

That was my 24 years, over-summarized into barely a hundred words, but hey, this post is about Selangor, the best state in Malaysia to me :)

I love Selangor because there's loads to do in this very state!

There's shopping (a lady's favoritism pastime :P)

There are great views to be seen from the little hills all around Selangor. For instace, Broga Hill at Semenyih which I visited recently :)

To me, the beauty of Selangor hit me in the face when I met an guy from Uruguay, called Patas, while back-packing in Taman Negara with my brothers in May 2009 [read it here].

After befriending Patas, he came over to Klang and stayed as a guest in our humble house in Klang for a few days. With the short time that he spent with us, my family and I brought him to, what we thought, are the highlights of Selangor.

The Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Mosque or more fondly known as
the Blue Mosque, Shah Alam :)
Did you know that the Blue Mosque is the largest in South East Asia?

The next day, we brought Patas to Batu Caves, Gombak :)
Whereby we hiked the whole 272 steps of the cave and was more than happy as it was also my first time visiting the caves :)

And on Patas' last day with us, we brought him to Kuala Selangor for yummy seafood and fireflies :)

After his stay with us, Patas, the gracious guest Thanked us for being his host. But in reality, I was the one who was supposed to thank him. It was because of Patas did I get the chance to become a tourist in my own state.

Let's be honest, how often do you become a tourist in our own state? Not often, right?
It's only when relatives from another state pay a visit do we become "tourists" in our own state.

I know for a fact that there are many more places in Selangor to discover other then those I have mentioned above. Sadly I find it very hard to get 'kakis' to join me in my quest :(

For instance I blogged not too long ago [here] about my wish to visit Kanching Waterfalls in Kanching Forest Reserve, Selangor. But I have yet to go because of the recent outbreak of Leptospirosis :(

So, after all said and done, please vote for me so that

I can become a tourist in my very own state: Selangor :)

Terima Kasih :)

Wen Yi

ps: If I get selected as the top 30 finalists, then maybe I can pose ala Miss Selangor while traveling :P :P

Birth and Baby Steps

History.....

We all learned in sejarah lessons back in secondary school that history is actually derived from two words;

History = His + Story

Hello...how come it cannot be her story? Why must if be his? This for one, is an example for chauvinism, the male ego which can be felt everywhere one goes. Oh well, at least nature is called Mother Nature and not Father Nature. LOL....

Back to my humble beginnings (fuyoh...I make myself sound like I'm some big-shot now. Pity I'm not. LOL...)
As I was saying, back to my humble beginnings...
I'm the first child in the family. Thus, that may be the main reason why my parents or my mum in particular actually put in the effort to decorate my very own baby book.

Along with the album, were:

1. My baby hair when I was 2-months old. (Yes..they shaved my head bald and kept my hair in the album. hehe^^)

2. A page stating all my vital stats when I was born. Vital stats means my baby weight not this>>> 34-24-36 (and btw, that's my dream vital stats, not my real one ;p) LOL^^

3. A page with all my first times.

Ladies and gentlemen,

This little baby above is or more accurately was me :)
I was born at 2 pm on the 1st of December 1986 which was a Monday.
My weight as a newborn was 3kg and I had a height of 36 centimeters.

I first smiled when I was 1 and a half months old, and first laughed 6 months later when I was 2 months old. I started to crawl when I was about 7 months old and my first walk on my own, without the baby pram, on March 1988 i.e about 1 year and 4 months old.

Then on September 1988 came my twin brothers.

The picture below shows me looking very much like a little boy, along with my two chubby looking brothers in 1989.

Then in 1990, when I was almost 4 years old, I went to Thailand along with my parents.
Guess which is me?

Highlight to see the answer >> The little girl in blue, standing in front of the banner.

Fast forward a few more years, little wenyi headed off for pre-school where this picture below is most likely the first performance she did. hehe..

Can't see me?
Well, I did look a LOT different back then.
Answer: The girl right next to the indian boy. If you can't see which is the indian boy, set the lighting of ur screen, or go get ur eyes checked ;p

Little wenyi was a shy girl. Wait, I still am shy. hehe...

Little wenyi is>>> The girl with the black shoes.

Then, before she graduated from kindergarden, she did another performance.

At home, she's a cheerful little girl who loved playing with her two younger brothers.

Don't be fooled by my ahem "cute" pictures of little wenyi cause little wenyi can be fierce as well.

Once I was in primary school, I started wearing spectacles.
As you can see from the picture below, I dislike wearing specs.

Especially since the olden day sepctacles are wide framed and made me look, well, weird.

That's all for now, pictures of my primary and secondary school is scarce. It's almost like finding water in the dessert, I only have that few pictures taken *sigh*

oh my gawd!

My primary school friend just sent me 4 pictures.

Those pictures were horrifying innocent pictures of me and my other primary schoolmates.

3 were okay (because I looked decent inside them ;p)

Then the final one...it was just...
...

..

.

BAD *sigh*

Here's the first three, which I think is okay.
Try to guess which is me, if you can.
But I highly doubt you can cause the picture is rather small.
Hehe..if it were taken using the a digital camera, we could have zoom-ed in, right? hehe ;p

Here's one~
here's the second one..

here's the third one...

and here's the BAD one.

I think it's pretty obvious which is me. *sigh*
I carried THAT look ALLLLLL the way to secondary school.

Yup. Big bulky specs + Puffy hair +weird smile = Peas i mean wen yi.

Thus, I prefer to wear my contact lenses if possible.
I prefer to have long hair, as short hair enhances the volume and puffiness of my hair.
I prefer to erm.....I ran out of ideas ;p

Anyways, since I don't have many pictures of me in my primary school, I would like to thank the friend who sent my this.

So thanks York for sending me these pictures!!!

I shall upload more of my old pictures so that I see how much I've changed.
But that'll have to wait till after my exams!!!
EOS is another week away!! *Go peas*

And good luck to my other batch mates as well!! Ganbatte kudasai~~~

Of primary school days...

I have to admit that I do not have much recollection on my primary school days.

I do not recall what happened,
I do not recall what I did,
I do not recall who I was.

Those days when I was a mere child were almost lost to the dark abyss of my memory, until just now when I chatted with my primary school friend, Cheryl, who randomly said this to me on msn,

~*Ch3RyL*~ says:
u still like reading comics?

♥WenYi♥ says:
yup

♥WenYi♥ says:
i still do

~*Ch3RyL*~ says:

~*Ch3RyL*~ says:

~*Ch3RyL*~ says:
we all borrow from u

~*Ch3RyL*~ says:
long waiting list summore

WoW..I didn't know that. After Cheryl told me that, we began a course of conversation which forced me to dig deeper into my memory storage files, which I guess where lost somewhere deep within my brain.

Thankfully, little by little, those memories came back.
I was this bespectacled young girl, with short mushroom-styled hair.
(there's a friend who would keep telling me that I looked really "cute" with those large frames I used to wear. haha)

I was a "penolong kanan kelas" in standard 2. Then I was a school prefect (I almost forgot about that, and convinced myself that I was a librarian...luckily Cheryl reminded me..hehe...

~*Ch3RyL*~ says:
were we prefect?

~*Ch3RyL*~ says:
i mean both of us

♥WenYi♥ says:

♥WenYi♥ says:

♥WenYi♥ says:

~*Ch3RyL*~ says:

♥WenYi♥ says:

♥WenYi♥ says:

~*Ch3RyL*~ says:

♥WenYi♥ says:
eh wait...

~*Ch3RyL*~ says:
i think u were a prefect 2

Goodness, I AM indeed getting old (though I may not admit it).
However, my brother said something that proved the very fact that I am indeed getting old.

"OMG, Backstreet Boy songs are being played on Light/Mix FM!
I remember the days when it used to be played on Hitz.fm............"

Well, need I say more???
